December 5, 2022

Guess what??? It’s been TWO years since Oh, That’s Alyssa Blog began! Here’s the post I wrote last year to commemorate the 1 year anniversary. I didn’t think this post was worth an upload so I decided to leave it in my drafts. It’s a little story about how Oh, That’s Alyssa got started. It’s unfinished and I’m okay with that. Enjoy this quick read and be on the lookout for my end of the year post (if I grow some to post it, it’s really good tho tbh).

Blessings,

Alyssa

P.S Idk why I teared up signing off on this ahahah. I love me.

December 5, 2021

As I sit in my undecorated, unorganized, ugly living room on campus, I am ecstatic to write that yesterday, December 5, 2021, marked ONE YEAR of Oh, That’s Alyssa Blog!!! *insert clapping, yesss girl, you da best music, you did that, cheering here* Coming up with a topic to write about nearly paralyzed me because I haven’t felt inspired. Nothing, I felt like sharing with the world moved to the forefront of my brain. And still as I write this nothing has formed. But I had to celebrate this momentous occasion! I guess since no inspo has come forth, I’ll tell you why I decided to start Oh, That’s Alyssa.

While scratching my way out of 2020, I binged watched Half & Half. If you don’t know about the t.v show Half & Half, after you finish reading this blog and leaving a comment, go over to netflix and binge the show. Mona, the main protagonist, starts blogging about her life, in order to gain and make some sense of it. In the years 2014-2019, I watched the t.v show, Jane the Virgin. Jane, the main character, was an author who often wrote when life was messy for her. Two of my favorite t.v characters, were caught doing the same thing I wanted to do: write. So after watching Half & Half, with Jane on my mind, I drafted my first blog post. As scared as I was to share my interpersonal thoughts, I clicked the publish button and posted to my instagram story.

Now this story is not in no way spectacular. In fact, it is quite simple and basic if you ask me. But it was a start for me to do something I always wanted to do. After I posted my first blog and received positive feedback, I was encouraged to write more, which I did.

Often, when I do things that I believe are normal, someone (typically someone I’m close to) will say “only Alyssa would do that” or “that’s such an Alyssa thing to do.” I thought my actions were normal and quite frankly, predictable. But apparently they were unique to just me….
